Book Review: Expecting a Bolton Baby by Sarah M. Anderson

Expecting a Bolton Baby (The Bolton Brothers) by Sarah M. Anderson
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

For Bobby Bolton things are on the right track. He has a reality tv show and he is building the resort of his dreams. So, why does he feels as if he is missing something. He keeps back to the night he spent with Stella Caine. But, she is the woman who he must forget as her father is David Caine, a tradiotional marriage proponent with moral clauses on his contract. And Bobby has signed such a contract as David Caine is an investor in his project. Bobby is in the middle of such musing when someone knocks on his trailer door. Basically, Stella Caine is there, and she is pregnant. Now Bobby is stuck between protecting his family’s investment and a future with Stella.

I picked this book on a whim. Considering the title, I was not expecting much. I am glad to say that I was pleasantly surprised. The writing is not stellar and the story seems plagued with the oh-so-obvious plot device of miscommunication. But, it was an enjoyable story. Bobby was an agreeable character and Stella was broken (and very victim-ish). I kept hoping she’d grow a backbone. The story was not ridiculous and moved at a good pace; it did not drag or obsess about minor details. This is a great novel to read one afternoon by the fire if it is winter or outside if it is summer. Quick read, good characters, good plot and narration.
