Audiobook Review: Zombies v. Unicorns

Zombies vs. Unicorns

I received this audiobook from Amazon Vine and I LOVED it!

Have you ever asked yourself which creature makes for better fiction? Zombies or Unicorns? Why yes, I think about this all the time and engage in quite a few discussions about the subject. ... Puh Please. I had never ever pondered the subject. This completely original idea lends itself to a most interesting anthology of short stories. Having been now exposed to it, I am firmly Team Zombie. But, if you are still wondering which side you are on, listen to this audiobook. Twelve amazing short stories of zombies (yay!) or unicorns (oh well) come, unabridged, in 10 CDs.

My favorite zombie stories were Prom Night, Love Will Tear Us Apart, Bougainvillea (honest and felts all too real), and Inoculata.

Favorite zombie stories were The Third Virgin (dark unicorn tale), The Care and Feeding of Your Baby Killer Unicorn (this story had great narration and insight into the character), and Princess Prettypants (great narration).

The narrators:
Some where great (Pettypants, Prom Night, Inoculata, Third Virgin) and some not so great (Highest Justice, a thousand flowers). The editors have intro mini debates before each story. They seemed forced and eh, I'd rather have read them than heard them.

Frankly, I think I might buy the book. I would rate the stories a 4.5/5 and the actual audiobook a 3.5/5. Zombies vs. Unicorns was absolutely hilarious and entertaining. Original, engaging and oh-so funny. I was introduced to new authors and I was left wanting for an expansion to my favorite stories.

By the way, check out the authors' website.

And just for the heck of it, some good zombie movies!
